RedeemerTo be redeemed means simply “to be bought back.” We believe that humans are made in the image of a glorious and perfect Creator. We were created for dignity and greatness, but we have thrown away that dignity by our actions and attitudes. We dishonor God by looking to ourselves or other things as our hope for dignity in this life. God would be well within His rights to turn His back on us in response to how we have turned our backs on Him. But in His mercy God offers us complete and free forgiveness if we trust not in our good intentions or good deeds but in His Son, Jesus Christ, who lived, died, and rose from the dead to purchase our salvation. When we place our faith in Christ, we receive from Him not only forgiveness and cleansing from our past, and hope for our future, but also the power and strength to live for God today. Through that redemption we enter a new kind of life in which our relationship with God is made right forever. Presbyterian“Presbyterian” means “oversight by elders.” We believe that pastoral care of the church is the responsibility of several ordained leaders. The elders (who are collectively called the session and include the pastors) are responsible for overseeing the preaching and teaching of the Scriptures, the sacraments of baptism and the Lord’s Supper, and major decisions in the church. The Scriptures also teach that deacons (literally meaning “servants”) oversee a complementary ministry of service in matters of physical needs for those inside as well as outside the church. ChurchThe Bible speaks of the church as a community of people who are committed to helping one another live the Christian life in response to the forgiveness and love God has demonstrated through His Son, Jesus. We want to be large enough to have an impact in our community and include a broad range of people and small enough to function well as a spiritual family. A church functions best when we are praying with and caring for one another. Redeemer Church stands with believers around the world and from the past twenty-one centuries in affirming the Old and New Testaments of the Bible to be God's true, written word to humanity. Redeemer Church is committed to expanding Jesus' influence throughout the Triangle by continuing to establish new congregations around the area. By God's grace, we have helped to start five new congregations since 1999.
