Christian Education
At Redeemer, we desire to be a learning community, one that is committed to learning biblical truth and applying it to all of life. Our Sunday School program for children and adults helps us accomplish this goal. We are committed to providing quality classes for all ages, and work diligently in preparation to be faithful to the scriptures and relevant to life here in North Raleigh.
Adult Sunday School, 10:00 a.m. - 10:45 a.m.
January 8 - March 12, 2012: "Getting to the Heart of Parenting"
Starting February 5: "Christian Living 101"
"If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross and follow me." This saying of the Lord Jesus provides the outline of "The Golden Booklet of the True Christian Life." In this little book John Calvin attempts to briefly and clearly describe living by faith in Christ. Calvin is famous from the coining of the term "Calvinism", a handy dandy name for the theology of the Reformed Churches. If Calvinism is "right", what makes it "good"? If being Reformed isn't simply being "right", then what makes it wholesome? If Christianity is the truth, how do we live according to the truth? If Christ (not Calvin!) calls us to follow him, then how should we live? Are we living a true Christian life?

God's Big Picture: Understanding God's Plan of Redemption Through History
Leader: Andy Wood
Class Location: Sanctuary
Have you ever been stumped by the Old Testament? Have you ever tried to read it cover-to-cover? Many of the OT Books are not in chronological order, so without a guide you can get lost pretty easily. Come join us for a 9-week orientation to the Old Testament and learn a framework for understanding God's redemptive story. This class will break each of the 39 Books of the Old Testament into 6 distinct time periods, with their own characteristics, main characters, and dates, so that we can better see how God's plan is unfolding. This class will challenge your preconceptions of the Old Testament and encourage you to be a student of God's Word.
That Voice in Your Head: The Conscience and Its Relevance to Christian Discipleship
Leader: Jeff Smith
Class Location: Conference Room
The conscience is a God-given moral alarm system built into our human nature. Every decision is filtered through its grid, and by it we inescapably judge the consciences of others. The Apostle Paul writes about the conscience, assuming we understand what he means by that term. It functions as God's proxy, His moral spokesperson to the mind -- though an imperfect one -- in the moment of every moment, for every person.
In Christ, the Holy Spirit informs our consciences with the words of Scripture and empowers our wills to obey the consciences we presently have. One way of restating Jesus' Great Commission (Matt. 28:18-20) is that the church's work is to bind and loose every conscience according to the rule of Jesus Christ. This eight-week series will examine the needs, limitations, and inescapability of the conscience in Christian discipleship, and how understanding the conscience properly can help you live a more fruitful and joyful life.
