For Further Discussion & Application:
Does agreeing in the Lord (4:2) mean that we must come to the same opinions? If so, why? If not, what does it mean? What should be your response to disagreements within the church?
What does it mean to rejoice in the Lord? How can we obey that command? What other things do people rejoice in besides union with Christ?
Gentleness, patience, and kindness are all qualities Paul regards as essential in Christian living. Do you tend to treat people justly or gently? What are the advantages and disadvantages of each approach? How is Christ our example in these areas? Why are these graces minimized so frequently? How can we develop them?
Why is our society so anxiety-ridden? What are the characteristics of the prayer Paul describes as a remedy? Why would that type of prayer serve as a remedy to anxiety?
Make a list of all the things that you are anxious about and consciously offer each one to the the Lord and thank Him for supplying you with peace and all other needs.
Sunday Lunch Question:
What is the relationship between experiencing the peace of God and knowing the God of peace?
